MINISTRY TEAM Diaconate Ministry The word diakonos — from the Greek — means servant, minister, one who serves at table. Before it became a title, it was a calling. The diaconate at Thankful Baptist Church is rooted in this original meaning: men and women set apart not for status, but for service. In Acts 6, the early church appointed servants of honest report, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, to attend to the practical and spiritual needs of the congregation — so that the ministry of the Word could continue unhindered. That is still the charge. The diaconate serves communion, cares for the sick, visits the homebound, supports the pastor, comforts the grieving, and stands as a spiritual bridge between the pulpit and the pew. Scripture calls them to be dignified, not double-tongued, not greedy, holding the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. They are to be tested first and found blameless. A diaconate that functions biblically is the heartbeat of a healthy church — and at Thankful, we hold that standard with reverence and accountability.

STANDING COMMITTEE Trustee Ministry The Board of Trustees serves as a standing committee of Thankful Baptist Church, appointed to assist the pastor and church body in the care and stewardship of the church's physical property. They serve at the direction of the church body as outlined in the church bylaws. Trustees assist with the maintenance of church property, coordinate insurance and facility needs, and help ensure the church's physical resources are properly cared for. They may be called upon to assist with legal documentation and property matters as directed by the pastor and approved by the church body. Their role is supportive — carrying out the decisions of the congregation, not making them independently. This is a role of integrity, humility, and faithful service. If you are a member of Thankful Baptist Church with a heart for stewardship, a servant's posture, and a desire to support the church through the care of its resources, we invite you to express interest in becoming a trustee.

MINISTRY TEAM Music Ministry The Music Ministry leads the congregation in worship through song, creating an atmosphere where hearts are open, spirits are lifted, and the presence of God is made tangible. From the choir to the praise team, from the musicians to the vocalists — every voice and every instrument serves one purpose: to glorify God and draw people closer to Him. We believe worship is not performance — it's participation. Whether you sing in the shower or studied at a conservatory, if you have a gift and a heart for worship, there's a place for you in this ministry.

Through liturgical and praise dance, our dancers use their bodies as instruments of worship — telling the story of God's faithfulness, power, and love in ways that words alone cannot capture. David danced before the Lord with all his might. That spirit lives in this ministry — disciplined, anointed, and surrendered. If you have a passion for dance and a heart for worship, the Dance Ministry is where your gift meets God's glory.

From the clarity of the spoken word to the warmth of the stage lighting to the quality of our live stream — this team ensures that every person, whether in the room or watching from home, encounters the presence of God without distraction. Audio engineers, camera operators, graphics directors, lighting designers, and live stream technicians — this ministry is where technical skill meets Kingdom purpose. If you're behind-the-scenes by nature and want your gift to serve the house, AVL is your team.

MINISTRY TEAM Culinary Ministry Some of the most powerful ministry at Thankful happens around a table. The Culinary Ministry serves the church through food — preparing meals for church anniversaries, homegoings, special occasions, fellowship dinners, and community events. Every dish is prepared with excellence and every plate is served with love. If you love to cook, serve, or simply set a table, the Culinary Ministry is where your hospitality becomes holy ground. Ministries and members can also request culinary support for church-approved events and celebrations.

INREACH MINISTRY Usher Ministry The Usher Ministry is the first face of Thankful Baptist Church. Before the sermon, before the song, before the prayer — there is the greeting. Ushers set the tone for every worship experience by welcoming every person who walks through the door with warmth, dignity, and intentionality. They manage seating, assist with special needs, maintain order and flow during services, and ensure the sanctuary is a space of reverence and comfort. An usher doesn't just open a door — they open a moment. If you have a gift for hospitality and a heart for people, this is your ministry.

INREACH MINISTRY Pastoral Support The Pastoral Support team serves as the hands and feet of the pastoral office. They assist with altar care, communion preparation, baptism logistics, and the countless behind-the-scenes details that allow the pastor and ministerial staff to focus on preaching, teaching, and shepherding. This team also provides direct support during services — from managing the flow of worship to ensuring pastoral needs are anticipated and met. They serve quietly, faithfully, and with the understanding that excellence in the background creates freedom in the pulpit.

INREACH MINISTRY T.E.C.H. Teens TEENS EXTENDING CARE & HOSPITALITY T.E.C.H. Teens bridges the digital gap at Thankful by training teenagers to serve as digital hospitality guides — helping senior members and visitors navigate QR codes, registrations, connect cards, digital giving, and church apps. Technology and tenderness, working together. The youngest generation serving the wisest.
